You want to lose the extra pounds you’ve been struggling with for far too long. You dream of feeling fit, confident, and filled with energy, but in reality, you feel:
● TIRED - It’s all you can do to make it through the day without falling asleep at your desk or dozing off on the couch, and you have zero energy to engage in the activities you love!
● SICK - Your digestion is a mess, your joints and muscles ache, and you have a long list of symptoms including headaches, allergies, rashes and other issues that are holding you back from enjoying your life!
● FRUSTRATED - You’ve tried countless diets and nothing works. Every diet leaves you feeling hungry, deprived, and cranky, and if you “cheat”, you feel guilty and angry with yourself.
● DOWN - You want to feel body positive, but deep down, you hate how you look. Your clothes don’t fit right, you dread occasions where you have to dress up, and some days, you just wonder how you let yourself go.
● Overwhelmed-You feel bombarded with new science and fad in exercise, nutrition, health and wellness.
You are not alone in feeling this way, but there IS hope!
I know this because I’ve been EXACTLY where you are right now
As a child, I was on the heavy side, which sent me into an eating disorder by age 13. I spent all my junior/ high school years on some type of diet or another. Starving myself, eliminating entire food groups while spending 2 hours in a gym everyday. I felt like any junk food would cause weight gain. I remember watching my friends at sleep overs eat pizza, chips, chocolate etc…I would think to myself I can’t have that.
Of course, looking back, I was a perfectly healthy size and had a perfectly healthy appetite, but my constant dieting left me with low self-esteem, terrible habits and a fear.
In college I found myself like most students skipping meals, living off caffeine and not taking care of myself. When I had to take a semester of nutrition for my degree I quickly realized I had been misguided. My mission was to get out of school, return to the gym setting and help individuals develop a healthier view of food. I spent seven years working in a gym and evidentially became the manager. I also achieved a life goal of competing in the Fitness America Competition.
I had a desire to enter into the medical field to utilize my sports medicine degree. So back to school I went while working full time and being a new mom all at the same time.
Those were crazy times. I found the schedule to be overwhelming and zero time for self-care. Bad habits began to surface. It wasn’t long before I found myself weighing more than I wanted to.
I finally achieved another goal, a job in orthopedics. I worked as a first assist in surgery with my physician and as a clinical assistant. The job was an absolute dream. The schedule didn’t leave much time for working out. I would walk on my lunch break from time to time. I would eat wheat thins thinking I’m eating healthy. Then my body began to turn on itself. Mysterious symptoms would pop up; skin rash, ear infections, elevated liver levels, inflammation, etc….this went on for years without any answers.
My body had decided to turn on itself. My few aches and pains flared into one hot mess. I found myself depending on my husband for daily task (getting dressed, taking a bath, fixing my hair etc.) The emotions along with the physical impairment was almost more than I could handle. I couldn’t be a wife, a mom or anything. Depression set in. I felt hopeless. We finally got a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. There’s no cure, it affects every system in your body not just a joint disease.
I looked closely at my life and at my diet and realized much of my diet consisted of what I thought was healthy but was really food deprivation. I realized what I was dealing with was really my fought.
I had to do something. I decided to fight back. I wanted my life and health back. I began to research the disease and found information on leaky gut and autoimmune. I made a lifestyle change, no processed foods. I cut gluten, diary and anything processed out of my diet. For a girl who loved carbs and looked forward to cheat days this was a struggle at first. My “why” was my family and my health. When I tell you I was on a journey that’s exactly what it was, one day at a time. Slowly, I was making a comeback.
My research led me to realize that eating clean was the solution I was looking for. I didn’t have to diet or count one single calorie. I simply chose to nourish my body with foods that included lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables! If it was natural and whole, it stayed in my pantry or fridge, if not, out it went.
What a difference this made!
In just a few months, my joint pain began to decrease, my energy increased and without even trying I had dropped several pounds without counting a single calorie or feeling hungry! Even better, I felt INCREDIBLE.
